Sprint Car Daily - High Limit Title Race HOTTEST in Years | NARC To The Wire | Aussie News & MORE!

Welcome to Episode 22 of Sprint Car Daily for Wednesday, October 8, 2025, presented by RACECARIllustrated.com — your daily dose of sprint car news, results, and stories from across the dirt world.

The High Limit Sprint Car Series is delivering one of the most compelling championship battles in years. Rico Abreu Racing leads after a late-summer surge, with Aaron Reutzel and Brad Sweet chasing. Injuries, driver changes, and the franchise system have added intrigue. Abreu also leads the midweek title by just 6 points over Tanner Thorson heading into the final race. The series heads to Lakeside Speedway (KS) for two nights at the Heartland of America Showdown.

In California, DJ Netto leads Sean Becker by 7 points with three NARC King of the West races left, starting Saturday at Antioch. It’s another tight finish after last year’s 6-point thriller.

The ASCS National Tour returns at Salt City Speedway in Kansas. Sam Hafertepe Jr. has 10 wins and a 146-point lead with 6 races to go.

In Australia, Tolmer Speedway canceled this weekend’s opener due to rain, tentatively moving to Feb 20, 2026. Thomas “T-Mez” Meseraull will return down under with Brett Smith’s V39, racing Borderline (Nov 22), Tolmer (Nov 23), and NAPA Sprint Cars in the City in Adelaide.

Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series at Sydney International Speedway. Management confirmed the Oct 11 date remains but released no event details — another twist in the saga of the $100M venue.

Premier Speedway will host a free community season launch Oct 18 in Warrnambool ahead of their Nov 1 opener.

In PA, Troy Wagaman Jr. clinched his first Williams Grove 410 title in the Mike Heffner #27. Heffner earned his fifth owner’s crown, Ben Engle was named Mechanic of the Year, Preston Lattomus was Rookie of the Year, and Cameron Smith was Most Improved.

Ricky Peterson Jr. secured the 2025 POWRi FAST on DIRT championship with eight top-five finishes.

BAPS Motor Speedway will honor Bob Kriner, Don Ott, Rob Cappetta, Charlie Garrett, Tom Rider, and Brian Morrison during the Oct 25 Britton Finkenbinder Memorial — a tribute to legendary Central PA engine builders.

USAC mourns the passing of Steve Phillips, respected team owner and Arizona Motorsports Hall of Famer. His black No. 71p won 19 USAC National Sprint Car races (2013–19) with Dave Darland and Jason McDougal, including Sprint Car Smackdown and Oval Nationals.

📌 Correction: Craig Vandersteldt was incorrectly listed as a Murray Bridge podium finisher Monday — it was Matt Egel.
